Privacy Policy
In short: no ads, no tracking, no selling of data, no analytics SDKs. Your location is shared only with the groups you choose, only while you share.
1. What we collect
- Anonymous ID. A random identifier created when you first open the app. There is no email, phone number or password.
- Name. The display name you type. It is shown to your group members.
- Location. Precise location, speed and heading, only while you turn sharing on. It is sent to the members of the group you share with. With sharing on, it also updates while the app is in the background.
- Chat. Messages you send to a group, including replies.
- Road reports. When you report a crash, police, a slowdown or another road condition, its type, place, time and your name are shown to the members of your group.
- Groups. Group name, code, the host's name, the list of members with their names and the time they were last seen, and the list of blocked members.
- Voice. The microphone is used only while you hold the talk button. Audio is relayed live to the group and is not recorded or stored by us.
- Device information. The app version, iOS or Android version, device model, language, time zone and speed unit of your phone. It has no name or contact data, is linked only to your anonymous ID, and helps us fix problems and decide which systems to keep supporting.
- Technical data. Our servers log standard request information, such as IP address, time and app version, for security and to keep the service running.
2. What we do not do
- We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not read your contacts. A photo you pick to scan a QR code is read on your device and is not uploaded.
3. How long we keep it
- Location: only the latest position per member is kept, for up to 24 hours. Others stop seeing it after about two minutes without an update. It is removed when you stop sharing, leave or are removed.
- Chat: the last 200 messages of a group, for up to 7 days.
- Road reports: one hour, then they disappear from the map and from our servers.
- Groups and members: until the host deletes the group or you leave it. Blocked entries stay until the host unblocks them or deletes the group.
- Device information: the latest values, until you delete your account.
- Server logs: kept for a short period.
- On your device: your name, groups and settings stay until you delete the app.
4. Who can see your data
- Group members see your name, your location while you share, when you were last seen, and your messages.
- Service providers that run WWA: Cloudflare (network and security), LiveKit (live voice relay) and our hosting and database providers. They process data only to provide the service.
- Maps and search. When you search for a place, drop a pin, plan a route or view directions, our server sends the search text or the map points to routing and address services built on OpenStreetMap (currently the public Valhalla server run by FOSSGIS and Komoot's Photon). Your ID, name and group are not sent. Our server keeps the results, without who asked, for up to 30 days so repeat requests are faster.
- We disclose data if the law requires it or to protect people from harm.
5. Your choices
- Turn location sharing off at any time.
- Leave a group, or delete it if you are its host.
- Change your name in Settings.
- Allow or deny location and microphone access in your device settings.
- To ask about or delete data linked to your anonymous ID, write to support@chateclipse.com and include the reference number shown in the support email the app prepares.
6. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so share group codes only with people you trust.
7. Children
WWA is not for children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the data.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. Meaningful changes are announced in the app.
